This is another small remnant of a late 15th century tower-house. It is thought to have been part of a defensive curtain around the port.

The name of Cow'd Castle confuses even locals but it is believed that the castle takes its name from the time when cattle were a sign of wealth. The bay in front of the Golf Clubhouse is known as Lambs Lough which would appear to back this up.

Cowd is the smallest of Ardglass' castle but was very well protected by arrow loops. If you walk around the base of the tower you can spot them easily enough. Try and imagine though if you were trying to capture the tower.
